Carol Brands
Carol has spent most of her life as an educator of one sort or another! Determined to be a teacher from the age of three, she trained in WA, graduating as a primary teacher in 1970. She taught in a variety of schools and continued to study gaining her BA in English and History and later her Honours in Film and Television.
In 1978 she left schools to work as a Producer /Director of Educational Radio and TV with the ABC and later moved to Curtin University where she was Head of Film and Television for a number of years. During this time she commenced her Masters in Art and Design but abandoned it in 1998 to return to her first love, teaching children. She worked as a teaching Principal at Treetops Montessori School for ten years during which time she took Treetops from a small primary school to a primary and secondary school with 160 students. She also led the school in it‘s successful application to become only the second Montessori school in Australia to be registered for the International Baccalaureate for Year 11 and 12 students.
In April 2008 Carol began her own business as a writer, education consultant and speaker. She has been active in the Montessori community in Perth for many years and she remains committed to spreading the word about the benefits of Montessori Education.
Cate Crombie
Cate has been a facilitator of communication courses for over 20 years. Her workshops and training is offered in a variety of ways and settings, from corporate training, parenting workshops in community centres, university, to in-service training in the social services sector.
Cate also offers personal or private sessions in deep empathy, working with couples, individuals wanting to deepen the NVC process for personal healing, reconciliation and mediation.As the mother of three young adult women, with whom she has close connected relationships; Cate enjoys opportunities to work with her daughters assisting in her workshops.
Since 2001, Cate has been learning and practicing Nonviolent Communication skills in both her personal and professional life, as she is committed to fully living the process. Being inspired to share this powerful yet natural model with others, Cate is now a Centre for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) certified trainer of Nonviolent Communication.
Working in a gentle and empowered experiential style, Cate invites participants to work with examples from their own lives. Her workshops and private work involve a balance of support as well as challenge that people say they find both stimulating and enjoyable!
Eva Nislev
During her lengthy teaching career, Eva has worked with many different age groups, from children as young as 2½ to adults in their 70’s in a variety of capacities ranging from Montessori centre director, early childhood consultant, workshop presenter, tutor and lecturer. She has presented at Montessori conferences both in Australia and overseas.
Eva holds a Masters Degree in Education with a concentration in early childhood education, a certificate in special education, Infants/primary teaching credentials and is Montessori certified for ages Infant through Primary 6-9 years. Eva has worked in a wide variety of environments, including state schools, special education schools, tertiary institutions, Montessori early childhood programmes, and various government departments.
Eva currently serves as the Chair of the Montessori Australia Council and also runs her own educational consulting business, Montessori Links.
Jack Rice
Jack is currently the Head of School for the Canberra Montessori School. Hi is married to Shannon, with daughter Mackenzie (15) and son Malcolm (12).
He obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Ontario ( London , Ontario , Canada ) , a Bachelor of Education from the McGill University ( Montreal , Quebec , Canada )
Specialist, Science Education from the University of Toronto ( Toronto , Ontario , Canada ), a Masters of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business, York University ( Toronto , Ontario , Canada ) and is a graduate from the Toronto Montessori Institute.
Jack became a teacher in 1992 at the Simcoe County District School Board and graduated from the Toronto Montessori Institute in 2003. He then became the Head of School at the Montessori Country School in Nobleton , Ontario , Canada in 2003 and then joined the Canberra Montessori School in 2010.
His workshops discuss the unique environment of Montessori Schools and the imbedded implications for planning. Good strategic planning should provide a school with a framework to make decisions, allocate resources, time new initiatives and evaluate their progress. It must incorporate the needs of Staff, Students, Parents and the Community while measuring the schools progress on key aspects of its day to day operations.

Malcolm Roberts
Malcolm writes, speaks and consults on human freedom and provides a specialised management and leadership service.
He has an engineering degree and a Masters in business administration from the University of Chicago.
He has worked in all industry sectors including education (primary and tertiary) and at most levels from underground coalface miner through to executive management.
His work has taken him to most states of Australia, eight states of the USA, New Zealand, China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Britain, Canada. His clients include major global corporations, small businesses, universities, government enterprises and individual leaders.
He was Chairman for four years of Brisbane Montessori School and is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Montessori Council.
He has travelled extensively through all 50 states of America, across Canada, India and most states of Australia.
He and his wife have been married 20 years. Both their children attended Montessori school for their primary education.
Malcolm's own education started in a school for expats in India that was run by Italian nuns using the Montessori philosophy.
Tim Seldin
Tim is the President of the Montessori Foundation and Chair of the International Montessori Council. His almost forty years of experience in Montessori education includes twenty-two years as Headmaster of the Barrie School in Silver Spring, MD, which he attended as a child from age 2-18. He has also served as the Director of the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies and as Head of the New Gate School in Florida. He earned a B.A. in History and Philosophy from Georgetown University, an M.Ed. in Educational Administration and Supervision from The American University, and his Montessori certification from the American Montessori Society.
Tim Seldin is the author of several books on Montessori Education, including his latest, How to Raise An Amazing Child, The Montessori Way with Dr. Paul Epstein, Building a World-class Montessori School, Finding the Perfect Match - Recruit and Retain Your Ideal Enrolment, Master Teachers - Model Programs, Starting a New Montessori School, Celebrations of Life, and The World in the Palm of Her Hand.
Penelope Vos (Penny)
Penelope Vos (BSc Dip Ed) is a teacher and author. She is a graduate of Murdoch University and the Montessori World Education Institute, and has twenty years of teaching experience in Science, Art and Languages, as well as general Montessori teaching at Treetops Montessori, in Darlington, WA.
Her most recent books are "Australian LOTE: Achieving Broad and Deep Competence in Languages at School" (2007) and "Talking to the Whole Wide World" (2009), a stand-alone resource to equip primary school generalists to teach a second language to fluency, in a context of global intercultural awareness, without prior training.
